Savory Mashed Potatoes

These homemade mashed potatoes are perfectly rich, savory and creamy, full of great flavor, easy to make, and always a crowd favorite.

  • 3 lbs of red potatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 16 oz package of cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Yamasa Regular Shoyu


  1. Wash and pat dry, 3 lbs. of potatoes. Once dry, peel andchop the potatoes into 1–2-inch cubes, this will speed up the cooking time.
  2. Put the chopped potatoes in a large pot with water about ¾ full.
  3. Add garlic and bring to a boil with med-high heat. Boil for10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft.
  4. Strain the potatoes and add back to the large pot.
  5. Add butter, Yamasa Shoyu and cream cheese. Using a hand mixer, mix to your preferred consistency, making sure the butter and cream cheese are distributed well.
  6. Keep warm until you are ready to serve.
